The Leadership Design Academy  is a unique “design thinking” experience for school or district teams. The Academy is a great fit for leadership teams who are looking to move beyond getting started and want to take personalized learning to the next level.

Teams may consist of district level leadership, school leaders, teacher leaders or any combination. Teams will:

  • Reflect on their vision for personalized learning and transform ideas into an actionable design
  • Create and apply a strategic action plan based on a customized and aligned entry point
  • Design and implement a customized personalized learning model using a 6-step transformation process
  • Revise and expand on personalized learning ideas as part of a coaching and feedback process
  • Move their personalized learning work towards systemic change
  • Establish learner "look fors" and milestones of progress

The Academy process places the learner at the center. By following the Institute's change strategy, transformational leadership efforts will focus on the intentional alignment of the personalized learning elements in direct correlation to the primary goals of personalized learning. Through this process, teams will move an idea from getting started to implementation and position the work as part of a system-wide change.

Year 1: Getting Started/Design/Implementation/Revision

  • Initial onsite meeting
  • 2-day design session
  • 2 full cohort sessions (Nov 2017/Feb 2018)
  • Convening design showcase session (Nov 2017)

The Leadership Design Academy is based on a two year cycle. Registration for Year Two will be available at a later date.

Year 2: Revision/Expansion/Systemic Change

  • 2-day design session
  • 2 full cohort sessions (Nov 2018/Feb 2019)
  • Convening design showcase session (Nov 2018)
